Hey, Jeff here from Flow Kings.

Let’s talk about something that drives me insane:

people love to overcomplicate email marketing.

It’s not that deep. I promise.

You don’t need to segment by “favorite movie” or send 47 variations of one campaign to micro-lists. Yeah, it can help… but it’s usually a waste of time when you haven’t even mastered the basics.

The Harsh Truth

Most brands spend hours chasing minuscule improvements when they’re ignoring the simple plays that drive 20%, 25%, maybe even 30%+ growth.

Instead of tweaking the small stuff, lock in these 4 pillars:

🧱 1. List Growth

Your pop-ups should convert at 6-10%+. Keep testing copy, offers, and designs. This is your entry point to real growth. A double in sign-up rate realistically means a double in email revenue.

🗓️ 2. Consistent Campaigns

Send 3–4 campaigns per week to your engaged list.

Don’t overthink it. Frequency wins. Once you’re consistent, start testing topics, hooks, angles, etc.

⚙️ 3. Core Flows

You only need the essentials dialed in:

Welcome, Browse Abandon, Cart Abandon, Checkout Abandon, Post-Purchase, Winback, and Sunset.

If any of these are missing, you’re leaving thousands on the table.

📬 4. Deliverability

Stick to your engaged segments (30, 60, 90, and 120-day) and keep your flow open rates above 45%. That’s it. Keep your sender reputation clean and you’ll be golden.

Once those are locked in, then (and only then) you can mess with advanced automations, category-specific flows, and micro-segmentation.

At Flow Kings, we run accounts doing $100K+/mo from email + SMS and this is literally all we do:

  • 15%+ pop-up conversion

  • Core flows developed & tested weekly

  • Consistent campaigns to our 120-day engaged list

  • Healthy deliverability

The fancy stuff comes later. Master the fundamentals first. Unless your brand doing millions in sales per month, it really isn’t going to matter as much as you think.
